      Redesigned CAN-IO modules

      CAN-AI8-16

We have redesigned and modernized our CAN-based IO modules in ME housings. Using an STM32F334 and CAN/CANOpen, the CAN-AI8-16 can measure up to 8 voltage inputs with up to 24-bit resolution. Additional averaging enables even higher accuracy. The CAN-AI8 is configurable on a channel-by-channel basis and also offers current or temperature measurement. The CAN-AO4 supports four analog outputs, while the CAN-DIO8 provides eight digital inputs or outputs. A new feature is the use of FreeRTOS as the real-time operating system for even greater reliability.

        WireGuard Implementation for RTOS-UH

        Wireguard

WireGuard implementation available for RTOS-UH. WireGuard is free software for setting up a virtual private network (VPN) via an encrypted connection. WireGuard uses connectionless UDP as its transport protocol, and any protocols can be transported in the virtual network. Due to its structure, WireGuard offers several advantages over other VPN protocols: a simple, minimized code base that is easy to understand and verify; high transmission speeds, as encryption and transmission place hardly any strain on server and client resources; cross-platform integration into various operating systems such as Windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, iOS, and others.

          EtherCAT Slave

          EtherCAT Slave

An EtherCAT slave connection was developed for several devices that were previously connected via the CAN bus. An ARM core with an integrated EtherCAT slave controller from Infineon is used. The EtherCAT protocol offers a very high data throughput on an Ethernet basis, as the entire protocol processing is carried out in hardware. The integration of distributed clocks enables synchronisation in the µs range.

          Remote Control

A circuit board has been developed for use as a remote control. The coupling takes place via a Bluetooth Low Energy connection. There are 4 buttons available for operation and information is displayed on a round 1.28" RGB LCD. Power is supplied by a LiPo battery, the integrated charging circuit is supplied via a USB-C socket. 6 RGB LEDs arranged in a circle enable the display of different operating states.

          Redesign of the extruder control

          Extruder

The IO board of the extruder control has been newly developed. Instead of the previous 7-segment display a modern colour display with a resolution of 320x240 pixels is used. The display has an extended temperature range of -20...70°C and a brightness of more than 500 cd/m². This makes it ideal for outdoor use. The entire user interface has been newly developed and extended.

          Redesigns

Starting in the second half of 2017, several redesigns were carried out. The basis is the CORE-5125, thus the computing power of the old designs was increased by the factor 10-100. For the customer, no major changes to the application software were usually necessary, as the RTOS-UH continues to be used as the operating system.
Further CAN modules have been newly developed on the basis of ARM processors, so that in future not only the CAN bus will enable networking, but modern real-time Ethernet field buses can also be used.

          Stove control

          Stove control

An AddOn board has been developed for the Raspberry-Pi to improve the combustion behaviour of a wood-burning stove. For this purpose, the exhaust gas temperature is measured with a thermocouple and the stove flap is moved accordingly so that the combustion process is optimal. Less wood is needed and the exhaust gas values are significantly better. Operation can also be carried out from a smartphone via a web interface.

          Extruder control

Completion of the order development for the control of an extrusion welding machine for manual operation. We developed both the hardware and the software for the feed control as well as for the heating. The special challenge was the environmental conditions, e.g. the operation at an unregulated emergency power supply garden and accordingly a high robustness against distortions!
The controller is based on an ARM processor and also includes a control unit with buttons and display. The compact design allows it to be built as an integral part of the extruder.

          temperature controller

Based on the CORE-5125 a controller for refrigerators was developed. In addition to the up to 4 high-precision temperature inputs, 3 digital inputs are available. Up to 10 outputs with 230 VAC / 16A are available for controlling the compressor and other units.
Updates can be carried out on site or log files can be extracted from the device via the USB port. An Ethernet connection or an RS485 interface allows several devices to be networked.
The touch screen and graphical user interface facilitate intuitive operation.
A potential-free alarm contact and emergency operation for 36 hours via a battery supply ensure alarming and recording of temperatures even in the event of a power failure.
